Home-shopping retailer L, a distribution and remote-sales business, built an automated insight reporter on the XGEN Agentic AI Platform. Reports that had been written by hand, over and over, are now generated automatically — and decisions in product sourcing and planning move faster.
Trends changed daily; the report was written by hand
Retail and e-commerce move from one day to the next with the season and whatever is in the news. But L's market report was still produced the old way: a person going channel to channel, gathering data, writing it up. Three burdens followed.
- A limit on how fast a fast-moving market trend could be recognized
- Difficulty getting trend-based insight in time for product sourcing and planning
- Lost productivity from writing the same kind of report by hand
By the time a report was finished, the market had often moved to its next phase. The problem was not a lack of data; it was the time it took a person to connect scattered data by hand.
Internal and external data through one lens
We designed the insight reporter around automating the judgment, not the data collection.
- Combined analysis — external data from the three home-shopping networks, the company's own mall, and Naver Shopping, analyzed together with product inventory and media data
- Competitive comparison — internal sales data linked to external market data to draw out the competitive picture and the insight in it
- Automated reports — the trends and insights that come out are generated as a report in the company's own format and distributed
Ask in a single sentence — "pull together this week's top 10 search terms, the fastest-rising keywords, and news-based insight" — and out comes a deep-dive report on the latest data, with a market summary and ranking tables. Instead of gathering data, the analyst spends the time reviewing the conclusions and deciding.
It did not cut reports; it made decisions faster
The effect went past simple time savings.
- Automating a market report that had been manual raised operational efficiency
- Product sourcing and planning decisions could now rest on live trend and competitor data
- Combined insight from external and internal data strengthened competitiveness in the market
The real value of report automation was not "you no longer have to write reports." It was "you can decide faster, and more often."
If you have plenty of data but late insight
If market data is abundant but connecting it to a decision takes time, the insight reporter closes that gap. The approach is in Applied AI solutions, and other cases are below.
- E-commerce that improved search, support, and code at once → Company I
- Finance-specific AI that shows its sources → Bank J's AI chatbot
